ANIMATION OPEN HOUSE

its that time of year again - the algonquin college grads have an openhouse for everyone to see and fawn over their super awesomeness

well at least we hope so lol

its a Tailgators in the merival mall ! ottawa ontario and such - we get a VIP room all to ourselves and its gonna be great

so if you're free on friday the 25th and you wanna come out between 3 and 8 we'd LOVE to have you :D ~

Final Flim : Character Designs / and doodles

WOW lack of updates , well for now i'll post my finalized character designs - later on when i fix up my leica i'll post that as well :)

from concept to final design , phife didnt stray far - i gave her more of a flame then a ' cream puff' type hair style lol , less weight ect - i also worked out some kinks in her face :) but her idea stayed pretty much the same







Mosiac was a bit more of a challenge , he went through so many changes from my concepts ( which were so different from eachother ) . Especally his hair , i wanted to make him so much more spikey but , me and my teacher were baffeled about how to rotate what i had in mind - so i simplified it and gave him a widows peak. I also made him as SNOTTY as I could , and i hope i pulled it off - his expressions are really fun to draw :)

i didnt upload his poses and expressions because..well , i did them at the last minute and theres some iffyness i wanna work out first :)




overall , im very happy with how they came out ! super fun to draw for the storyboards , and i cant wait to start animating them :) both pose different challenges . mosiac because hes very precise and thoughtful so his movements are slower - phife because shes always moveing and flickery , ( i cant wait to experiment with wipes!)

ahhhh elements - oh stop me from gushing about things i probably wont be able to pull off lol.

i was on a block and i asked my boyfriend what i should draw , he replys ' vertigo ' so this is what i came up with



this was just an experiment to see if i could ink and color all on photoshop - and i did ! ive never inked on a computer before , so it was kinda fun. Its more animeish , its fanart of Nia from Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagann..or however you spell it lol

Final Film : character concepts

here are my character concepts for my final film :) meet my characters - Phife , a playful lil flame and Mosaic , a snobby frost dood lol.

i'll probably hammer out lil things here and there when i finalize their design in class , but the first page is what they're mostly gonna look like - the other pages of them is just my thought process and other ideas i had.

SCHOOL IS OVER ! time for part time job and rent paying , OI ! but after seeing the grad openhouse i cant WAIT for 3rd year :D ! EXCITED IS ALL OVER ME

PLUS ! ee , dureing the schools demo reel i saw 5 THINGS THAT WERE MINE ! that was a total shock and surprise ! :D i got an animation in there ( you'll see it in the storyboard below whenshe flips back ) a centaur girl that will also be on this post - and my skeleton / character rotation as well as the gypsy commission i did that are on earlier posts - that blew my mind :0 - ahh i love all my teachers - they are all the greatist and..gently push me or kick me in the ass to do my best stuff lol.


anyway , here is some stuff i did for school - my fight storyboard with animation for my final cut into it ( im not posting the whole storyboard cuz..the beginning and the end i did like..a couple of nights before they were due..NOT A GOOD IDEA )



and the dialog scene from kinda just before the fight starts - i wish i had time to fix all the problems that there are - still , its the most complete dialog scene ive ever done !

and some doodles i did in the caf - doodling away the time inbetween classes - the first one is a young version of a character i've had since grade 9 - 2nd is ..ariel , my friend wanted a porn star version which i declined lol

cancel that order

turns out that none of the 2nd years get art in the ' fine tooning ' book this year. i understand the costs are too high on account of all the colored pages for the 3rd years - but it really bums me out. its no ones fault really , but i was super excited to have my pages ( in the post below this one ) shown in it and hopefully shown to the studios , looks like thats not gonna happen.

bums me out so much i cant even draw a decent ' im bummed out ' picture , my inspiration is kinda sucked dry.

so i'll post some doodles and my ...not really nicely rotated character sheets ,but hay , gotta post somthing right ? ahh i wish i didnt leave these so late (*2daysbeforeitsdue*coughcough*) but ..EHHHHEH ^^;;

Fine Tooning

I could go through and post all of my character design sketches and life drawing that I've scanned for my FineTooning pages

but ..I'll be lazy and just post the pages themselves - SO ! if you happen to have one of our new 'fine tooning ' books from algonquin college and you see these pages? why ,THATS ME !

ahh..i cant believe they turned down the suggestion ' oodles of Doodles'. That would have been a wicked title.

Final Design

We did some character design in design class - i drew about..15 characters , and then combined the ones my teacher liked to make this one



after i scan the rest of the others i'll post them here too. im kinda stressed on account of school , my final is 10 seconds long BUT it was my fav scenes of my storyboard ( damn...damn i love storyboard )

ALSO some guys from collideascope studios in halifax came to our school - Verryyy cool guys - totally inspired me to go get flash 8.

hopefully i can do some flash animation over the summer - i was going to be doing some storyboards based on some Broadway music ( from Wicked actually ) but ..now if it goes well i'll cut in some animation to the leica reel.


oh - and on another note. I finally saw 300 on the weekend ( I had to wait for it , it was my friends birthday )

now this is my new msn picture - ...damn those spartan doctors are hot huh?
